An obvious top four has emerged in the USA TODAY Sports college football re-rank: Alabama, Ohio State, Clemson and Notre Dame.
This group has staked a spot in the driver’s seat at the midway point of the regular season. Notre Dame clung onto its place at No. 4 after sneaking past Pittsburgh, 19-14, on a late touchdown. The Tigers stuck at No. 3 after an off week. Ohio State had little trouble with Minnesota and remained at No. 2. And Alabama continued its dominant play with a 39-10 win against Missouri.
The top group lost one member with Georgia’s ugly loss at LSU, which vaulted the Tigers up 11 spots to No. 7 while docking the Bulldogs five spots to No. 10.

The top 25 featured only two new teams but plenty of movement. Three teams fell at least 10 spots: No. 18 Penn State (previously No. 8), No. 23 Miami (No. 12) and No. 24 Wisconsin (No. 14).
